Three weeks in Italy
(10 Sept-02 Oct 2005)

Day 16 (Sunday, Sept 25, 2005)

Next Morning we took the service bus and get to the nearby undergound station... when we came out at first I thought that Milan is an ugly place... it looks as if carved out of black stone... especially the stone paved roads with the trams rumbling over it...

We visited the Duomo and we even climbed up to the roof...at the seventh photo you can see Leonardo's statue just in front of La Scala opera house...

After the center we tried to see if there wa sa possibility to see Leonardo's Last Supper frescoe in the nearby Cenacolo Vinciano building just adjoining Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie (photo 20 below)... but we knew that we had to have an appointment in advance, and as it was Sunday the place was closed... so we just took a photo from a poster at the entrance...

After Milan we started driving to the south... we entered Pavia town and had a mini tour... then we left the motorway and driving from the roads going through the fields we tried to find a place where we could eat mushrooms but for this we had to go further towards Turin... so we came out at Savona on the Ligurian coast... we drove through the coastal road and passed through Genova city... then we stoped at the beautiful Camoglio village...

From Camoglio we came to Rapallo city where we found a small hotel (Hotel Stella) to rest... Rapallo is a nice place and a good base to to visit Portofino which we left it for the next morning as it was getting dark... it might have been more interesting in the night though...
