Three weeks in Italy
(10 Sept-02 Oct 2005)

Day 15 (Saturday, Sept 24, 2005)

Next morning we started driving alongside the coastal rode towards the beautiful Bellagio town... the road was extremely narrow and we almost had an accident with a truck passing bye... we stoped at some beautiful spot and had our breakfast with Italian cheese and bread as we had paid only for the bed in the hotel...

Bellagio is just at the end of the peninsula that separates the two lakes... at the left is Lago di Como and at the right Lago di Lecco... actually the total lake is known as Lago di Como... Bellagio is a beautiful place but I think the villages in the other side of the lake, and especially Tremezzo, are much more beautiful... but you need plenty of time to visit them...

After our short walking tour at Bellagio we continued on the narrow coastal road and drove down to Como town... Como is a big town of not such great importance besides the other beautiful villages around the lake...

From Como we tried to find our way to Lago di Maggiore which proved to be a very difficult thing as we got lost many times in the road... Lago Maggiore's best place in the Italian part (the northern part belongs to Switzerland) is Stressa town... according to the book Stressa is a very expensive place to stay... the center was very crowded and all we did was to look at the beautiful hotels and the wonderful small Borromean islands... if you have time you can buy a trip to the islands...

After Stressa we headed to the south for Milan... Milan is a big city and there are continuous fairs so very difficult to find an empty room... we tried to find a hotel room near the center of the city but it turned out imposible... so we turned to the motorway where we found a hotel (Hotel Holiday Inn) on the edge of the road which was close to the undergound station and there was even a service bus in the morning to that station... so we rest at the hotel planning our next day...
