Three weeks in Italy
(10 Sept-02 Oct 2005)

Day 6 (Thursday, Sept 15, 2005)

Next day we reached Palermo within a huge trafic jam, we couldn't even get into the city, no place to park, probably the worst city of Italy, it took us around 4 hours to get in and out of the city without being able to see practically anything... you definitely need an organized tour for Palermo... and probably a whole day for the city, or even two for the surrounding villages...

After Palermo everything was much more orderly... our next stop was Segesta a lovely place on the hills, just ruins and nature...

Then we drove to the end of the island to Trapani with the plenty of salt fields... but we didn't stop there and went up to Erice... the road climbing up was a very winding one and while it was summer at Trapani it was winter up at Erice... we walked around the city and visited places like churches old buildings etc... the weather was so cold up here so entered a pasticeria and had some "canolli" sweets to eat :)... canolli is something like a wafel roll filled with cheese creme... and it is delicous...

After Erice we drove directly to Selinunte on the southern coast... it was evening so we found a hotel to rest... that hotel (Alceste Hotel) wasn't a good one but it was for one night...
