Three weeks in Italy
(10 Sept-02 Oct 2005)

Day 9 (Sunday, Sept 18, 2005)

After Taranto we started driving towards the north of Italy at the Adriatic coast... we first reached the round Locorotondo town... then we turned to the left for beautiful Alberobello town... this is the land of the beautiful conic houses... every farm house in the villages around had a cone on top, but the authentic ones are at Alberobello...

We spent quite a lot of time at Alberobello and then we went to visit one of the most beautiful caves of Italy the "Grotte di Castellana"... unfortunately we have no photos as taking photos in the cave was prohibited... in the cave there were long corridors and halls with plenty of colorful stalagmites and there was a hall with the whitest stalgmites in the world.. well this is what our guide told us...

Then we passed through Bari, followed the coastal road and reached Foggia town... our target for this evening was Lucera town... Lucera is very close to Foggia but we drove at least too times around Foggia's motorway to find the exit to Lecce... Italy's road signs were so difficult to understand...

Lucera was a beautiful town, and our hotel (Hotel La Balconata) was a beautiful place too... we went out and visited the town center in the evening but we do not have any photos of Lucera either...
